Consumer or Professional:

It really is up to you on how you can achieve your ultimate guest lists by inviting both those who can attend and those who can't.
Regardless of which way you go, your going to save money on your reception expenses and now you can also invite those that maybe you hadn't thought of yet.

Consumer Style Broadcast:

Consumer Cameras have a built in microphone which needs to be somewhat close to the Bride & Groom.
We suggest a distance of no greater than about 6-10 feet.

This allows for a great shot of the couple and is far enough back to not be a part of the actual wedding party.
Off to the left of the officiando is a great view of the ceremony and is close enough to the couple to get good audio.

Setup the laptop on the floor, maybe under the tripod and out of the way.

We also suggest a power supply to ensure steady power throughout. You can use your built in camera battery and your laptop battery but we strongly discourage it. You could run out of power right in the middle of the broadcast.

Professional Style Broadcast:

A Professional Wedding Videographer has all of the necessary gear on hand to do your live wedding broadcast.

Professionals use high quality Wireless Laviler Microphones to record high end audio as well as high end professional grade camcorders with high power zoom and high gain capabilities.

A Pro can setup their gear far behind the couple and/or off to the side of the ceremony.
Some pros even setup their cameras in a balcony for an aerial type of shoot.

Of course hiring a professional also means that you don't have to worry about the technical aspects of how to broadcast your wedding.

It really boils down to personal preferrence and budgetary requirements.
A professional videographer charges around 500-1000 to do your broadcast for you and also offers a number of additional services like professional grade cinema style filming to record your entire wedding day. Most offer the format in High Definition and some are already offering Blu-Ray disks.

Some Tips on hiring a Professional Wedding Videographer:

  • Find a videographer who has more wedding than 'other' video. Most Wedding Videographers clearly promote themselves as being in the Business of Wedding Videography. If you're having a hard time determining if they do weddings, they probably haven't done alot of them.

  • HD / Blu-ray / DVD etc... Most Wedding Pro's know the ins and outs of what you need to watch your video afterwards, but do you? Make sure you understand what is really involved and ultimately what you want. Do you have a DVD player that plays High Def or Blu-ray? How about your family members that you want to share your video with? These are issues which can be a concern after the wedding video is delivered. Make sure you know what you need and what to expect.

  • Personality, personality, personality, we can't say it enough. You are going to be spending your day with your wedding videographer. It's probably a pretty good idea that you get along with them.

  • You should understand beforehand what they are going to do, how they are going to do it, and how they will work with your other professionals (i.e. Wedding Coordinator , Wedding Photographer).

  • Price should be your last concern. It is tempting with today's economy to start with a 'low' price in mind for wedding videography but you do get what you pay for. It's best to find the Pro you want, their style and artistic ability. Once you have identified the wedding videographer you want, you can negotiate some kind of price to meet your budget.
